Disable Adobe CS4 Activation Check

You can disable Adobe CS4 Activation Check by editing your windows “hosts” file.

For that- open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with notepad and paste the following at the end:

127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sea.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wwis-dubc1-vip60.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sjc0.adobe.com

When you edit host file, if the UAC is enabled, you will get some error message depending on the editor. In that case, save the file in your desktop. Make sure that the host file have no extension. So if you are using notepad, when you save, change the file type from text to “All files option” and file name “hosts” with quotes.
You can paste it before of after the current text. Lines starting with the # symbol is comments.

Save it in desktop. and then Copy and paste the host file in “C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc”. You will get a message box asking to replace the file. Select the replace option.

PS: This is not for cracking your pirated Adobe CS4. Please buy original product, and if you don’t have that much money you can go for alternative tools like GIMP for Photoshop, Aptana for Dreamweaver etc.

Update: We bought licenced Adobe Photoshop CS4 & Dreamweaver CS4... Hurrayy!!!

Do not put ‘#’ in front of these entries. ‘#’ is used by the hosts file to comment these statements, thus these statements will be skipped.

If you can’t afford Adobe products, there are two options:

    1. Buy the EDU version at a fraction of the retail cost – you need to be a student or know one willing to buy it for you.
    2. Go ahead and copy the Adobe product and make a charitable donation of whatever you can afford in Adobe’s name. Whatever you think is a reasonable price to pay for the software you are copying.

YO, ROGER DISNEY…know what I think of you and your “options”?

    1. Not an option, I’m too poor.

    2. This option…..why the hell didn’t I think of this years ago? Not that I feel all guilty for pirating software, but this is….fair. For everyone. My good man, you’re a gentleman and a scholar, not to mention a man of culture….even if it is agriculture.

k, that was my dumb joke for the day. But seriously, that’s a real option, I’ll push it to my friends and such. May karma reward you, God bless, etc.

If you get a student to buy this for you, then you are still in breach of the EULA and as such, using an unlicensed copy. In which case you might as well just steal the full version anyway.

If you run notepad as an administrator, and the open and edit your hosts file, you should not have to worry about whether you have UAC enabled or not. Good luck.

Excellent – I suppose that they, Adobe, want to force us old timers to use Creative Cloud despite the fact that we had to pay big bucks to purchase CS 4 & CS5 in the first place – crooks!

Had to install CS3 master suite on laptop because original install is on an old computer. This worked great when I first opened the software and did not present activation messages. However, when I opened again, now getting activation messages for all software. Have literally 10+ years Fireworks images I will have to recreate! Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you. 🙂
